Prospertown Friday Afternoon

Picked up Grandson afterwork Friday and headed to Prospertown . The back launch is covered in growth so we tried to fish the channel edges with plastics . No Love in the back so we rowed up to the Main Ramp . Missed one on a motor oil plastic worm and that was it . We descided to fish Rapalas to the back . We spotted a group of five Deer on the East side of the lake back in a cove . Chris wanted to see how close we could get so we wet the oar locks and started to sneak up on them . The growth in the water was thick and we had to go slow . It took at least 20 minutes of rowing and freezing when they looked up but we managed to get within 20 yards before they caught our scent , snorted , stomped and bolted . There were 2 Does , one forked horn Buck , and two Fawns . One of the Does was a huge grey muzzle and seemed to be the boss . We pulled up on the bank to see what they were browsing . It looked like Blueberry bushes and waterplants . Everywhere you walked there were Deer turds and two good trails going back in the brush/trees . We headed back out of the cove and Chris gets a big Pickerel . I get a Nice Crappie off Rollercoaster point . We haul out with the Sun setting and the Moon up . Chris was so happy that we got so close and could watch the Deer interact . That made the trip for both of us .

Not this year . Last year and the year before yes . There was a huge one below the dam that lived in the rocks where the pipe feeds into the creek but we haven't seen him this year .

Is there a boat ramp there? I looked at Google map and couldn't find one. I live just 10 mins from this lake and would love to boat fish it.

FM , I live 5 minutes from the lake on 528 by the new WaWa . There are two ramps . One at the North end of the main lot and one down a dirt road that is a little tricky to find . There are no motors on the lake electric or otherwise . The one in the main lot is the easiest .

Thanks, surprised you can't use electric motors.

Grandson is my trolling motor . I guess that the land owner that donated the property to the State had that condition to prevent erosion . At least that was what the DFG Warden told me .

Looks like your grandson is a pro!

My boat has no oars so I'll have to fish from shore.

Why not ? Is it one of them fancy Bass boats ? Get a pair of chest waders . I fished Prospertown for a number of years with waders . The shoreline is limited access with the lot , dam , and the small area around the other launch ramp . The lake is weed choked right now and hard to fish without being able to get to the channel edges . The back ramp is solid all the way across the cove and out to the channel . Spring and early Summer are the best times . Do a recon . Go past the main lot heading toward 195 slow down and look to your right about a couple hundred yards down there is a dip in the road and the dirt road starts there . Follow it all the way back to the water . Six Flags is on the other side of the cove .Also where the flume feeds into the creek below the dam can be good for Sunfish . Worms , Crappie jigs , and Beaded nymphs have worked well for us .
