Well....went all in fellas. Picked up my first boat today and will be looking forward to dunking her soon!
She's a completely restored 1979 21' Mako center console with a 200Hp 93 Yamaha outboard. My grandfather had a 1968 Mako 22' and my dad had the 1978 25' Center console...so this decision only made sense. No name as of yet but every boat should have one, so as of now it's YTBD. I've attached a pic and am giddy like a schoolgirl! :D Fin~S  |
Re: I can finally post in this thread!

Re: I can finally post in this thread!
Congrats and way to do it Bobby!! Mako's are definatley one of the boats you can invest some money in an not get stung too bad. They hold their values well and with the history of them in your family, it improves your chances for some good BOAT MOJO.
My vote for name "The Keansburg Cutter" Best of luck with her! |

That's why I dove on it! :D Previous owner is in his 4th year of the Coast Guard academy and seemed to really take care of her, as I will too. Thanks for the kind words and here are a couple pics. -Bob |
Re: I can finally post in this thread!
Looks very well cared for Bobby. The transoms on the Makos of that period had issues so nice to see it was already dealt with.
One thing you might consider doing with the motor is Sea Foaming it. This stuff works wonders on carbed 2 strokers since they have a tendency to carbon up over time and if left unattended can cause power head failures. What you do is get our engine up to operating temperature, spray Seafoam into carbs, turn off engine, let it sit for a few hours, start back up, get back up to operating temps, take her out and run her at normal rpms and then juice it up to wide open throttle for a few one minute bursts and you are done. |

Re: I can finally post in this thread!
Good luck with a nice looking boat! Maybe you might want to name it what you called your grandfather.
