Deal Lake 3/27

Headed over with my better half and kid in tow. Nothing serious just wanted to get out. Windy and cold. Used some corn, night crawlers, and the banjo minnow. Lasted 20 minutes in the cold, they sat in the car for 15 of them :p

I got nothing, but got hammered twice with the banjo minnow. The second time I was hooked up for ten seconds with this thing taking line but popped off. I love that thing.

What do you think it was Joe? Big bass or a really stupid carp?

Some big pickerel in there too. I had a couple of 5lb plus fish in there when I was younger.

I am going to guess a nice pickeral. My experience has been they hammer whatever i throw at them, stops it right in its tracks. Many times with bass they mouth the bait or simply pick up and move. Looking forward to warmer weather and tossing shiners.

I got cut off by a slob at Smithville earlier this year about 4-5 lbs., was actually hoping to go back there for some carping. Nice report Joe, hope to see you striper fishing this year. Already getting em good down by Cape May.

Yeah... there are some big pickerel in there and the cold weather doesn't bother them at all, and they WILL bend your rod with a nice fight.... I live right down the block and fish it all the time.... and stopped by yesterday morning, felt the freezing wind and got right back into the truck.... Groundhog gave a bogus report this year!!! :) :)
