November night carping
10 Attachment(s)
Went carping in the 53.7 degrees Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, this evening on a cold, cloudy ☁️ day with a light southwest breeze. Air temperature was 44 degrees Fahrenheit at night. Saw 5 fishermen on the dam and Aqueduct. A guy caught and kept a big largemouth bass in the northwest corner of the river with a live shiner. I threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught two common carp with corn 🌽 bait. Didn’t get a bite until 5 PM then I landed a 22” 6 lb 10 oz carp. On my last cast of the day at 6 PM, I caught an 18” 3 lb 2 oz carp. Saw 3 muskrats swim upstream. A big fish 🐠 swirled. Canada geese, mallards 🦆, wood ducks, teal, cormorants, gulls, and herons were nearby. Tree surgeons were working in the trees. I took photos. Landed 77 carp this year.

Thanks for keeping them. Now only if we could get people to keep the Snakeheads and Flatheads we'd be in business !

Re: November night carping
Andy we've had carp in the Delaware for decades, seems like a well balanced system. Same with the Passaic River. And from what I understand, common carp as well as grass carp help weed control. Why the disdain?

Re: November night carping
Grass carp eat the grasses that juvenile fish need to hide in to grow up big and strong. Common carp bust up other fishes' redds something awful. Sorry no love for the sewer salmon from me, just more useless junk from Chy-Na.
