Shad and bass
 

Went fishing 🎣 at Manasquan Inlet this warm evening in the rain with a sou’easter small craft advisory and outgoing tide. Saw a fisherman on the south inlet jetty catch a fish 🎣. Lost a fish 🐟 in the inlet, missed a hit, then caught an 18” 1 lb 6 oz hickory shad with my brother John’s homemade synthetic pink and white bucktail teaser. Saw a full rainbow 🌈 over the ocean, then took photos. Panorama never worked for me on my IPhone 13. The young, blonde surfer 🏄 girl arrived with her friend late in the day and rode a few waves. I took pictures. 5:30 at night, I caught, tagged and released a 17” 1 lb 10 oz striped bass from the ocean with a yellow ASalt Bomber. The 17” striped bass that I caught, tagged and released on December 9, 2019 was recaptured in Raritan Bay on May 9, 2024. It would be amazing if today’s striper was recaptured. I caught 59 fish 🐠 in 51 trips to Manasquan this year and got 5 fish 🐟 tag returns.
