thank you BRANDON for killing the fishing with regulations and forcing businesses to close......you are now going after the hunters weapons...you gotta go!!!!! Do not mean to be political but reality sets in when we loose fishing boats..

So if regulations never happened the Highlands might be an amusement park today or somethimg else. In the old days there were no regs.Some blame commercials for raping the ocean but they have regs also. In my humble opinion fluking has gone down steadily the last ten years or so. Look at bluefish not as many around today as years past when boats slaughtered them day and night. Same with weakfish. In past years people would go fishing for them and bring home bulging sacks of fish of which many were wasted. Fishing technology and equipment also has grown greatly over the years making it easier to find and catch fish. Enviromental happenings also haven't helped the fish population. Maybe owning a party boat ain't as easy as one thinks. Generations change and people change. How many young people do you see on party boats. Some places don't have enough young people for little teams and other sports. Modern technology has many kids playing games on their phones and other cyber playthings. When I was young and my friends also loved to see it snow to put a little jingle in our pockets or cut grass. I know for myself that allowed me to indulge in more fishing gear. Hell I still indulge being retired at 77 1/2 and don't get out nearly as much. Fish more locally now. It's a looooong day driving 100 miles each way spending a day on the water and then trying to drive back with one eye open. Need to get a room now unless younger friends drive and dont know that many that fish. Thats enuff for me. Hope I dont sound political

Senseless regulations, inflationary pressures on small businesses, inflationary pressures on families and disposable incomes, preferences by regulators towards commercial versus recreational access to resources, a generation more interested in social media and Tiktok than a day of fishing with family or friends and without doubt technological advancements by the commercial sector. Stocks today are pounded year round, years ago technology wasn't there to track migratory movements the way it is today and the efficiency of commercial vessels today versus years past is 100% greater. You can't have senseless regulations combined with year round harvest and expect stocks to sustain themselves. Its simply not plausible.

Years ago, there were no limits or much higher limits on fluke, flounder, ling, whiting, cod, mackerel, porgies and those fisheries all flourished until being targeted by domestic and foreign commercial industry. Illegal poaching, both commercial and recreational, certainly doesn't help but they're not the main causes of declines in stocks and party boat and for hire operators who are slowly being regulated out of business. Government and regulators quite frankly have their heads up their @%$@#!
