Anyone Daytime Swordfishing???
My crew and I have been daytime fishing for the last 5-6 years when time, work and weather allows. The work and weather seems to be the largest factor. Running a 28 foot center console 100 plus miles certainty does limit the weather windows. There were many things which we struggled to work out, however i believe we have made great progress.
Depending on the location of our tuna fishing, we decide how much time to dedicate to run off the edge and drop. Sometimes its a drop or two, sometimes its for a few hours. Our most productive day was 6 hooked fish with a double header over a period of 3-4 hours. Unfortunately that day we pulled 4 hooks and 2 were after we got lead off and could see the fish, only boxing 2 fish. We have boxed daytime swords early as July 4th and as late as Nov 1st. We have hooked up on many different baits including soft plastics. Looking to chat with a few people who also have good results and would like to share information. I think that some more data on depths, moon phases and water Chlorophyll levels would help locate these fish and their feeding habits. Please PM if interested in contact information Peter |
