Blackfish Report

Me and brother Joe got out for a bit on Saturday... It was a little sporty out there with some pretty strong west winds. We timed it so we we were going out and coming back in at slack tide so the waves wouldn’t be stacked up in the bay.

Fishing was a bit on the slow side and we bounced around a lot on anchor so it was tough to feel bites. I stuck with the jig and I think I was one short of my limit with a bunch of fish just under the mark.. Joe had his limit only after switching over to the rig.

Nothing big but one or 2 nice roasters in the mix. Good to get out and enjoy some fresh air and get in some brother time.

Yes it was pretty sloppy. The wind gusts blew us off our anchor twice.

That was a No Go day you made the best of. That kind of wind especially in April ( tomorrow will be better unlike December) takes fishing to a different dimension even on a 80 footer.

At least you took home dinner plus some. Nice job!

We knew with the strong west winds if we fished close to the beach we'd be OK, it was getting across the bay and around the hook where we needed to be careful. If we tried that with heavy west wind against an incoming tide the bay would be evil so we timed it at slack tide going and coming back in... Got some spray on the windshield and it was a bit bumpy, but not a bad ride at all and glad we got out.
