Cleat Repair

I had my stern cleat pull out. The bolts were machine type. I was told when they build these boats the cleats are set on before the 2 pieces ( top and bottom) of the boat are put together. There is no way to get behind it to rebolt it. I have been told I will have to fiberglass it in. I have done small fiberglass repairs on my boat but nothing to be proud of. It almost looks like the holes were tapped for the screw threads. Any ideas. Thanks.

Re: Cleat Repair

Get a large hole saw and put in a screw in access plate will make it 1000x easier to do it right.

That back cleat takes an awful beating on stress, So half assed will tell it self if not done right.
