Wawayanda Slime Dart 8/30/19

Fished lake Wawa yesterday evening. Marked some fish but the salmon were not cooperating. Must be too early.
Caught my PB chain Pickerel though, which was a fun battle on 4lb line and UL rod!

Right at sunset saw a bunch of ripples on the surface and some sort of fish were coming up and finning up top. Even in very deep water. Couldn't figure out what kind it could be.. anybody here have a clue? Shiners, herring?

A damn nice pickerel. It's pike-quality!

Thanks, she was a BIG one. Several LBS and anywhere from 22-24" long. Definitely like a keeper Pike!

Nice. A 24" one would have qualified for a NJ Skillful Angler award.

Nice work!!! What were the water temps?

Water temps were not too cool yet. Maybe in the upper 60s? Would say exactly but the fish finder I was using is about 30+yo so it doesn't tell water temp. Just use my hand thermometer :D

That's a beast! Nice fish. Bait may have been herring.

Thanks JD, that's what I guessed. Shame the salmon were not flying out of the water after them like they do on a good day of fishing haha!
