Re: Triple Challenge Tournament Series 2019

Seeing more and more shark tournaments in early June. Unless we get a rare hot spring are catching garbage Blue Shark time. Even last year some NMFS rules made makos an 84 inch min. I won Bahrs landing 3 day Shark tournament in early July years back with a 79 INCH 166 LB mako worth $17,500.

The makos and more interesting stuff is late June into July.

Why are they shifted to early June? Less to catch? Like having a tuna tournament in early July.

Why is that? If you know.

Any thoughts on turning the striped bass tournament into a catch and release one? Lots of other tournaments are doing that, seems to be the responsible thing to do for the fishery.

Captain Frank thanks for your reply! We have some format changes in the works for Shark Challenge 10 and i feel there will be a better understanding of our choices once announced.

Hookmanski, thank you for your reply. Striper Challenge does have a catch and release division within the tournament and it is left up to the team to decide how they want to fish it. We also do make special arrangements for teams in all our challenges that are bringing back live fish to be weighed in. I believe last years winning team released their winning fish at the dock after weighing in.
