Fly Fishing Books/video recommendations?
I will be heading to Helena Mt. for Easter weekend and am hoping to extend my trip for a day to do some trout fishing on the Missouri River. I have never fly fished before and was hoping to give it a try out there. I will almost certainly hire a guide but I would like to pick up some gear before I go and try to at least pick up the basics. I figure between now and then I can squeeze in a few trips to the south branch to get some practice. Can anyone recommend a good book or video (or both) that covers the basics of fly fishing (including reasonably priced suggestions for entry level gear)? Thanks!

The Orvis Learning Center website has lots of great info.

a good guide will have good gear for you and if you are good at learning motor skills you'll be pretty good at it in an hour or so if he's a decent teacher. I'd recommend not buying any gear before you try it...it can be expensive.

Be prepared to get totally involved, fly fishing is great, you tube has a lot of info, learn the roll cast, very easy, used most on streams. Just don't get into tying, very addicting!!! I'm in way over my head
