Thank you Sea Swede!

I was moving my rig up the coast today for its winter home and had my starboard motor overheat and shut down. Had steam / smoke billowing out of every opening of the hull and cabin was almost un-navigable.

Made a call to Coast Guard and Sea Swede heard it and came to assist.

Want to thank you. Things happen so fast sometimes on the water and it never ceases to amaze me the willingness of our salty bretheren to come to the rescue and commit to stand by until things are safe again.

very humbling

Have a wonderful holiday season Sea Swede!

I owe you one.

Great to see people helping each other out. Things can and will happen out there so it’s nice to know your fellow salts have your back.

Moonzy1,

Great to hear you are safe. That could have gone bad real fast. Way to stay focused and get through it.. Glad that there are good salts out there like Sea Swede to help in the time of need.

Good to hear a happy ending.

Luckily it was not both engines. Then it goes from an inconvenience to potentially dangerous.

A real mess

I saw a 38' Sportfisher with Quad 300's....years ago was always a believer in inboards but now hey need to learn from the outboard companies about reliability

Not so sure about that... First of all why hang 4 motors off the back of your boat if you can get away with 2 larger inboards? Secondly inboards, especially diesels can run thousands of hours with out any major failures.

Having said that, outboards have come a long way but based on some of the junk they put out on the market in the late 90s/early 2000s, there was lots of room for improvement.

Outboards certainly do have their place but in my opinion, a 38 foot Sportfisher is not one of them. Unless of course you got that kinda cash :D
