My buddy Tom hookin' up with small striped bass on the fly rod with a clouser minnow pattern. We caught and released small striped bass at multiple locations along the river today.

Actually we got a late start and went in lower than Queens Bridge. We fished there for a while then moved up to Queens Bridge, then onto the fish ladder falls. Caught and released small striped bass throughout the entire river. There was a young couple when we arrived at Queens Bridge, maybe that is who you saw early.

I decided to get in on the striper slam, as well. Here's a video of way too many small stripers:

Been traveling the queens bridge from middlesex to hillboro for the last 12 years. Always look up and down the river. Just recently see people fishing the river. Been tying some home made wooly buggers would love to try them there sometime. Problem always working. Age 71, what wrong with this picture. Still have not started the motor on my boat
Fluke fish the hook out of rumson. Hopefully can start pretty soon. Tight lines walt

I know if you go down river road from middlesex, right before 287 there is a park on your right. I think they have a launch there for canoes. Not sure with the low water level how it is there. You can check it out. I think there is a small spillway to the right and to the left i think is tidal. Hope this info helps you out

Upper float you can put in at Robert Street, take out in Manville ( bank is a little steep at Manville but doable.)
Lower float you can put in at Riverside Park in Piscataway and take out just about anywhere in Johnson Park.
