Manatees have been seen in Barnegat Bay and Delaware river! What's next striped bass?

Watch out for the political correctness police. They are no longer MANatees. They are herbivoratees! Now, what will they insist on calling a MANta ray?

Wow, learned something new... I had no idea manatees woud range this far north, but they have been found as far north as massachusetts in the past.
.. Read they can't survive long in water less than 60 degrees, so I imagine they don't stick around long.. The aren't fast swimmers, and florida is a long way down... bob

I saw one last Saturday, back in the Triangle! He swam up to the boat, popped his head up for a few seconds, then was gone.

There was a manatee at my marina in point pleasant at the head of the bay a few years ago. Saw it several times. It made the paper

They are great eating, the best way if stuffed with a couple piping plovers.

Depression era old timers in the Keys told me they were good. Beef like but a bit lighter.
