Re: 50 K fluke >>>>------------------>>
Dan.....thanks for posting, not only a fish of a lifetime but the fish we all dream of come tournament time....especially that tournament! Can't imagine what was going through the anglers mind when that bad boy was being reeled in. Probably having a near heart attack every head shake! Good seeing you out there the other day, best of luck with the new rig.....she's a beauty!
Fwiw, if I was holding a 13 + lb fluke in the biggest tournament of the year and just won $50k, I think I'd manage a bigger smile than his. He might actually give you a run for top honors in that category my friend....lol! |
Re: 50 K fluke >>>>------------------>>
I was surprised to read that things have gotten so bad that he has to pass a lie detector test before the $50k is paid out
|
Re: 50 K fluke >>>>------------------>>
I know in the White Marlin Open you sign a waiver on your application to take a lie detector test if they want you to... Many tournaments have it as a stipulation in the rules as well, although I've never heard of someone having to take the test to collect their money.
Some tournaments I've seen have big payouts like $50,000 for a fish that breaks the state or world record. They usually buy an insurance policy for this and it might be that the insurance companies want the lie detector clause in there too. Money does funny things to people so I think it's warranted if foul play is suspected. |
Re: 50 K fluke >>>>------------------>>
On board cameras will be required soon to document the catch on video for proof.........Funny but I have a portable set up already!!!

I remember a tournament about 5 or 6 years ago the fluke which won it all looked like it made a stop at the Fulton fish market for a few days. Grey gills, opaque eyes....everyone questioned it. Person who caught it I believe was a member of the tournament sponsor to add more drama. BUT the fish held up and won a ton of money. Think lie detector tests in these bigger tournaments are here to stay and certainly help keep things on the up and up. |

Sorry Gerry saw you said the same thing after I posted my comments.....didn't mean to be redundant. Great minds....lol!

Is my understanding that the doormat division is a Lloyds of London insurance policy.
they require the polygraph test. which was taken last night and passed. he is one happy guy im sure. |
