Fish Monger 5-17 with Captain Jerry

Captain Hank was on vacation so Captain Jerry took myself, Tats, Vinnie, Directa, Philthy Orr, Evan the shrink, Cousin Rick, KB who brought a BANJO MINNOW & Monger Virgin Iowa Bob out for the day. left the dock at 5:45am & met a calm sea & thick a$$ fog! Captain Jerry took us all the way up to the point where I could see my Staten Island house in search of blues & ghost bass. Jerry did an amazing job navigating throught the fog especially with the peeps out there in the 17ft lundcrafts with no lights #brilliantidea #jerkstores. Reading were scarce on the finder & the evp picked up no ghost bass at all. So captain Jerry put out some shad rigs & we found a few blues on the troll & then taking DaveTats tip of the week he put out the stretch plugs & they were immediately crushed, once hooked up we all started throwing jigs & beat on the blues not great fishing but we'd hook a couple every time we stopped with 1 hooked on the troll.Vinnie was in heaven reliving his gloy days of trolling bigeyes in the wilmington & even tried to make a green stick aboard the monger. Directa lost about 14fish that he hooked as he was using a cape may bluefish rig consisting of hand forged hammered jig & size 12 light wire salmon egg hook. after we were tired Captain Jerry took us bottom fishing.

Water on the bottom was bitter cold still. I saw Directa talking to Jerry privately & somehow after this Directa was hot hand..........& i will admit it outfished me.I struggled only landed 2 ling but Directa was on fire,I am very proud of him & KB had a nice 5lb tog. Tats had a nice keper cod I think Evan had 1 too. We ended up with 30 ling, a couple keeper cod, a few throw back togs & sea bass. Apparently Captain Jerry can use Directas south nj mansion whenever he'd like now. All I ask is that Captain Hank run my trips from now on!

Big ups to Captain Jerry for navigating the fog & Kevin for being there to help overall trip was a success with good bluefishing & I lost 13 sinkers which is all that matters!

we tried! Paul Bunyan fka Cousin Rick called me last night & said he has done a 180 on Bluefish as he grilled it last night & said it was some of the best fish he ever ate.I been analyzing what I did wrong Sunday as I was a disgrace with my pullin skills only thing i can think of is I was to close to Philthy Orr who scares ling away. Big thanks again to jerr for running through taht fog & Kevin survived first Jmurr trip.Co- MVP goes to KB & Directa who schooled us young bloods on bottom fishing
