Fine day at pines 2/1

Hit Rocco's lake with a fine group of NJF'ers today. Myself, Rocco, Skunk, Mikey and Tom set up on the grounds around 8 am. Pretty steady action for the most part on this glorious February 1st. We managed nice Perch on the jig and a few on the tip-ups. Catfish were the surprise for the day. Rocco got a couple 5 lbers and Mikey jigged up a good sized Bullhead. Very interesting indeed! Got a nice amount of Bass out of the lake as well, some big, some small. The biggest bass might have been around 4.5 lbs or so. There was 2 of those caught one at 18.5 inches and another at 19 inches. Slime darts were caught in the mix as well. Biggest Slimer was probably around 24 inches. Jig action was good as Skunk was getting into some fish on the Binsky early and managed some nice Perch as the day went on. Everyone caught something today, what more could you ask for. WE CAME, WE SAW, WE KICKED SOME ASS!!!! Thanx to Rocco for getting us on the lake. Great host as usual.

YEA BUDDY!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D
P.S. I got spooled on a tip-up for the first time in my life at Pines. 250 feet of line gone in 10 seconds or so. TRUE STORY!!! VERY INTERESTING, YES VERY!!!

I was near that hole when the flag popped so I walked over to check it out while Eddie made his way over and that spool was SMOKING. I picked it up and it was spitting water like a mofo. It was at that point I yelled for Eddie to speed his a$$ up lol. By the time he took over, fish was still peeling line and luckily slowed down with about 5ft of line left on the spool! Sucks it spit the hook, but will go down as one of the crazier things I have seen while fishing:eek:!

Was a great day to be out. Glad you guys got into fish. As stated...solid all star crew. Getting spooled is what makes us go back out for more. Whether open water or not, sweet or salt... There's nothing more exhilarating than watching a reel get dumped. I've seen my share out in the canyons. Sometimes you just can't stop a runaway train!

Looks like a great day on the ice.

Just a note, I have had two tip-ups taken down to the arbor knot (only 150' but still)…both times it was in fact channel catfish. I don't know why they just take off sometimes after grabbing a bait. Being that you infact landed a few as well, I would be willing to bet that it what was.

Man i really need to get out on Pines on the ice, Nice fish!!!

That spot off the island is great where the drop off is.

try going a bit farther north towards the point with the coves on both sides. Thats where the pike like to sit in that 18-20ft zone.

send a brotha a PM next time!!! My buddy lives on the lake and we would love to get out, we just dont have an auger. my house is 2m down the road!
