NJF ICE Meet & Greet parts 1,2,3
 

Hey fellow HARD WATER ANGLERS! Im looking to arrange a MEET-N GREET on January 5th and 6th. Who's in??? Being as Budd Lake and the north side of Monksville usually freeze first, Im choosing these bodies of water as our ICE PLAYGROUND. If you cant make it out on the 5th than come on out on the 6th. If no ICE or unsafe ICE than the MEET-N-GREET will be moved to January 12th and 13th. Hopefully we'll have plenty of happy ICE between now and then. I'm looking forward to meeting alot of you fellas and really hope that we get a good showing of people. I'm looking to make up for a ton of lost fall fishing time. Cant wait to see you out there. We can always jig out them Golden Shiners and stunted Crappie at Budd. Monksville is slime dart heaven and there's plenty of 3 inch Bluegills to jig up. LOL!!! Hopefully someone will get a 40+ fish.

Budd used to be a great place to jig up goldens but it's been dead the last few years. Jigging for panfish used to be great too but it's gone downhill and the fish you catch are usually small. Unfortunately I think the bucket brigade cleaned out a lot of fish. I won't be catching any pickerel or panfish at Monksville, I'll be swinging for the fences with all big baits on tipups.

I usually keep 1 tip-up out so I can jig. Hopefully everyone will be droppin down BIG BAITS! Let's get em!!!

I would try some jigging if we went to Budd. I only have a few goldens in my tank and it's at least worth a try. I usually catch a few pike every time I go there, but I can almost guarantee we won't get a 40. I've seen a few in the mid 30 inch range but have heard of a 40 coming out of there.

If there's ice, I'm definetly there ! Sundays work for me so looking forward to punching a few holes and talking with some of the guys!

I don't ice fish, you sick bastards, but if it is at monksville I will show up for moral support being that it is 5 minutes from my house!

by the way, I know peeps that have pulled monster musky out of the ice there!

Im in and so is duck or bleed, madman and jimmylivebait. Reriggin the tipups as we speak even got new gas auger otw. lets hope for a long season this year

just bring your smallest trout rod, it will be fine for jigging. someone who brings a gas auger can drill you a hole.

I just got off the phone with Mother Nature, she told me to tell you HARD WATER NUTS that the colder weather is on the way. Dont worry just make sure you have your gear ready. :D

I second your thoughts on the bucket brigade!!!

I know from visual experience that they put a HUGE hurtin
on the mamam piggy largemouth population :-(

I have seen many five to six lbers. sittin face down in some home depot buckets and on stringers....Dam shame !! seein as how northern largies that size could be easily 6-10 yrs old :-(:mad: :mad:
