Topwater Pike'ing 7/3
 

Got out in the kayak from 5pm-9pm for some toothy guys. Began throwing the Flatfish and almost immediately got 2 Pike, both smaller guys around the 20" range. Good start. Kept chucking to structure til the sun went down, then switched over to topwater....holy crap. First cast I had a Pike literally LAUNCH itself out of the water like a missile and miss. Tossed right back and he CRUSHED it. This guy was a little bigger, weighed him at a little over 6lbs. Couple casts later, landed another guy in the same size range. Ended up with 4 pike, 1 smallie, 1 yellow perch, and a 4lb largemouth that I lost at the boat. These things are downright VIOLENT on topwater! Will be back out there tonight for their bigger, meaner uncle ;)

Dude nice job, I can't believe how aggressive the PIKE are in this heatwave. Everybody in Jerzy is catching PIKE!!!:eek:

Nice job!! Havnt tried the night piking on the river yet. Sounds like a good bet for some action.

Nice fish!!! I was walking the banks from 715pm till 830 didn't see nothing no action ..Dead night for me..Heading out early sat morning want to get to the water for 5am....

What topwater lures were you using? I usually throw spooks,buzzbaits...

Nice fish! The last time I hit the river for an evening sesh, the pike were absolutely killing my spook. Nothing beats an angry esox attacking a topwater!

Ya Bronze Im heading out around 4am tomorrow have to beat the heat going Pike hunting going to my regular spot first some deep holes looking for cooler water. Then I plan on walking new stretch I scope out a new section of the Passaic looked real good ran into a bank walker he caught 5 pike small ones. Said they were hitting anything yellow in color. He was using yellow cranks and a yellow spinner bait with silver single willow blade...I will post pics hopefully some good fish..:D

Good luck gentlemen. I'm taking a break from the Pike tonight and doing some night time surf SHARKING. Big bait, big hooks, big leader. Trying to see what all the hooplah is about pulling a 4ft long shark through the surf in the pitch black lol.

Well this is Dominator's Dad my oldest son went down the shore so I ended up getting up at 4am and taking my younger son. All and all I got 1 pike little man caught 2 pike I also caught 1 LMB and missed a couple..all and all it wasn't bad for a hot morning. And also met Fast Eddie on the bank. How did you end up doing Fast Eddie?:D

Oh I forgot put him stringer to clean him off. All fish were released!!!

Hey Dominator, I was out there this morning as well, exploring. I saw your dad and lil bro out there, chatted for a bit and then kept it moving. Nice to see people out there. Anyway didn't have much time to fish, had to work today, managed to get 3 PIKE between 23 and 30 inches. Caught the fish at one of my go to spots. Somebody was obviously there fishing before i got there or during the week. Why would I say that? OH YEA, dude whoever you are, come out and catch the fish man and have a good time but please don't leave your garbage, NOT NICE!!! No littering in my fishing areas, I find out who you are ill steal your car!!! HAVE A NICE DAY!!! TIGHT LINES!!!:D

Hey fellas I must have scrolled past this post, I stopped at 2 more spots after I saw you guys. Glad to see you hooked in to some fish, i didn't get into any PIKE until I got to my go to spot. Got 3 average PIKE nothing huge but an honest day of fishing. Off to work I went at 930. It was nice to meet you guys, and get a couple casts. Nice to meet the lil bro that WRESTLED with a 45 inch PIKE. AWESOME, TIGHT LINES!!!:D
