Winter walleye; mission accomplished

Hit the river today in search of the elusive winter walleye. Hit up a spot that I reconed last time I was out. This spot gave up some perch and a couple of smallies. Well, today the water was down about a foot since I was last out and the Eddie's I like were ice covered. No perch and smallies today but I did get what I wanted. Fishing the seam water was able to connect with a nice 20 class walleye. Fished a couple more spots but no one home. Might have to give up on the river until the spring thaw as I'm sure the coming cold weather will lock up all my spots.

Cool !! There are chunks of ice going down the river up by Narrowsburg NY, that will shut down your ability to fish the river rather quickly.

Beautiful fish and great colors. Tough sledding from shore this time of year, perseverance pays off. Congrats on a sweet catch.

Nice fish man. Gotta be tough this time of year. It's interesting how much different they look vs the ones I catch in the other river. And that color! Looks like the best bar of gold I've ever seen!

Never ate one. Are they as tasty as a lot of guys say they are? Esp coming out of frigid water...

They are one of the best eating fish around. I don't eat many freshwater fish species. But walleye is tops on the list of the few I do eat. And don't forget the cheeks!
