Fluke or Sea Bass

Was thinking of jumping on a party boat tomorrow out of the Atlantic Highlands, Leonardo area.. I know the fluking has been hit or miss.. What about Sea Bass, any party boats targeting them? Thanks guys.

No seabass boats in AH. If You want them go to Belmar, Brielle or Point Pleasant.I would suggest Seabass much better chance of going home with some fillets.

I've been on 3 seabass trips in the last 8 days, including today, all on party boat out of Belmar. The fishing has been fast and furious on all trips but is
dominated by short fish. I'd say about 20/1. My keeper count was 5,12,and 3. Lots of fun but not much to keep. Saw a few 3-4lbers but most keepers are smallish.

Thanks for the info fellas, the weather looks suspect for tomorrow, so I'll probably wait till next week. Thanks again.

I was on the Big Mohawk on tues, and your assessment was spot on accurate..
TONS of fish.. at one point they were 10-15 under the hull.. However they were all small.. You never stop catching fish all day long, but after a while the keeper ratio becomes more annoying than fun.. I was probably below average getting 6 keepers and a ling, but as stated, its about 20-1 right now shorts to keepers, and i was getting double after double shorts on either jigs or bait,, Some guys did a LOT better getting limits easily.. I was at the stern, and from what I could determine, there were more and larger fish closer to the bow... Jigging or bait didn't matter, you could not help getting bit almost every drop down.. All my keepers were on smallish size. 12 1/2 inches to maybe 13 1/2 if you stretched them a little.. There were some bigger fish caught as well, but not too many, most fish were 14 inches or under, but man there were a LOT of them!. After a few hours of weeding through so many shorts, I was wondering if I would have had more fun fluking. Thats what I plan to do next trip... bob

I started a thread about this earlier this week. I can’t believe there are so. Many small fish and most keepers are hardly worth keeping. Most are just there. Once it goes to 2 fish big ones will show I’m sure lol.

Your asking the wrong people
Go to a nursing home or hospital. Ask one of the people there who can’t go fishing anymore or never will go fishing again.
Point is just go fishing. You might regret not fishing one more time.

I agree 100%. It's 4:05am and I'm getting ready to head out. Plenty of time to lay in bed later.

This has turned into a great thread mostly because everybody’s right! Go fishing when you can, and take a kid with you!
