Ice contests???
 

Will there be any in NJ this year? Not looking for private lake contests! I like those big lake contests like the IFF @ Swartswood and the Knee Deep contests! Those are a good time!

On another note there used to be a contest on this forum! Anyone remember? Some maniac really enjoyed doing it! He put his heart into it every year only to be bashed by haters. Some thought it was easy but it certainly isnt! It takes a lot of extra time! Logging on, posting, checking measurements, updating entry boards and dealing with a multitude of different personalities! Outdoorsmen are naturally competitive, it’s what makes us men!!! Da truth!!!

Sure is a lot of ice out there this year and it’s still early! Oh boyyyyyy!!!!!!

All the knee deep club contests are going to happen most likely. 3 of them are scheduled, first one is january 21 i believe. www.kneedeepclub.org

first time in 3 years we have real ice and no njf contest haha.

oh well. it only takes 1 or 2 people to ruin it for everyone just like everything else that's good and fun!

I like this idea. Bragging rights and maybe basic prizes. No cash. No drama. Eddie busted his ass in the past running smooth contests but last year was a disaster after it transitioned to that guy who no longer posts.

Keeping cash OUT of it should eliminate the dramatics.

Braggin’ rights contest is cool! I just feel that it’s necessary for the guys to get something good for all there effort. Ice fishing is work at times. Dudes deserve something for freezing there arses off. Donations are great of course but very hard to acquire. Anyone else have any ideas? Bwahahahaha Hahahaha!!!!!!!! Stir, stir, stir!!!!!!!!:D

wasn't his fault...guys gave him a hard time to try to prove a point i guess and he was too nice about it imo. there would've been 3 guys not allowed to enter right off the bat if it was me.

I'll run it if you want, but be prepared for DQs left and right and a bunch of cry babies who's faces i will be laughing in...the participants are the ones that ruin the contest, not the guys running it.

you guys better clear it with andy and gerry because i'm not listening to any cry baby bitching...now that that's out of the way, i'll run it if no one else wants to and i can probably get some fishing gear for prizes, but no promises on short notice.

the easiest way is to just set up a meet and greet for LH or any easy on+off lake and have the contest the same day from sunrise to noonish. collect the money from guys who show up and pay out the same day on the spot.....

If you guys do decide you want to do more than a 1 day thing, i don't mind helping as a non involved participant. I can do the judging or handle the money if that helps. Same as Chrisper and Sir Edward I dont mind giving people the business if they decide to be whiney bitches. Think it might be smart to limit it to certain people we know wont pull any BS. Damn right we are all competitive but in the grand scheme of things I'd like to think most of us enjoy the fishing most and the money is just a fun competitive incentive. Ice fishing just isn't my thing so if you guys want to do a multi day/week thing, i dont mind helping keep shit straight.

yeah exactly, there is a big difference between being competitive and being a cry baby p.i.t.a.

I confirmed that i can get a few lures/baits from at least 2 different companies if we decide to get something going (the amount will most likely depend on how many participants we can get...it'll just be to supplement prizes, consolation prizes, etc.)

Only problem i have with a regular m&g one day contest is most of us can't keep a fish alive on the ice to weigh it in so it wouldn't be a c&r contest anymore. too many huge fish already wasted too many times all year on lake hopatcong from the KDC contests. Some guys are capable of keeping them alive to weigh in, but most are not/will not.

Another issue we might have is the round-about way we have to post pictures of a certain size now.

One way to get around the picture issue could be to utilize the facebook page! No restrictions on pictures there. Or you could have everyone send pictures to a centralized email account and the "overseer" could be in charge of them. Never been involved in any contests on the site but they seem like they could be fun despite past results.

I wonder if we could make a facebook page purely for the purpose of hosting a fishing contest...

doubt gerry would want the njf fb page taken over by a contest completely.

I would have no problem accepting pics through text or email and posting them up and giving a measurement judgement along side..fb wouldn't be a bad idea but itd be nice to keep it on the site.. but I'm in for whatever you guys decide on and need help with

Some interesting ideas on this thread. Thanks for chiming in guys. I appreciate the input for real!!! Lots of safe ice out there now with a little rain in the forecast. I call that rain Mother Nature’s Zamboni, LOL!!!! It’s all going to freeze up again nicely Saturday night and well into next week. Nice smooth black ice I’m thinking, so purdy!!!

673 views on this thread! No fish pics! No fishing report! Must be guys that love ice fishing looking at the thread! Or maybe it’s the FBI! Huh? :D

What categories does KDC have these days? I see Pickerel, Perch and Crappie on the sign up form! It’s been 4-5 years since I’ve fished there contest! Is there more categories than what’s mentioned on the form? Thanks in advance fellas!!!

Single day or 1 weekend would be best and easiest to govern. Could even be an overnight all weekend and then done. It gets dramatic when its drawn out (bad pics,private lake, holding back pics).
