Norma K report today
Headed out with a nice group of people today. Conditions were nice smooth ride anchors seemed to stay tight all day. Snowed beginning to end I thought I was fishing on a PUOSU trip. Crew was great and very attentive. Capt had us on very good bottom all day. Not a ton on life but enough to keep you interested especially with the bottom we were on. Some keepers and shorts caught with one keeper cod. I ended up busting off what I believed to be the pool fish not huge but very nice. Pool fish wasn't big at all and belonged to Skip. I'm so surprised:eek: jib job Skip. My fish must have been on the slider I had it a solid 30-35 ft on the bottom and poof. Brought up 12" hook leader line that was hook less. Nice fast boat and clean too. Thanks for a nice day out there Capt and crew.

Re: Norma K report today
Nice report Joe
The slider rig is my favorite rig to use when Blackfishing as it gives me the most versatility to present my crab. Unfortunately it looks like you experienced it greatest downfall when you hook big fish on the sliding hook especially on lighter leader. The kink you get on leader when reeling in big fish on slider will many times lead to heartbreak as you have experienced. I had it happen 3x on one trip while fishing 60 lb leader. Bumped up to 80 lb leader that day and switched to modified snafu and problem solved. Other drawback of slider rig is if you are fortunate enough to catch world record fish you will be disqualified for having swinging hook. |

Once again, sitting here minding my own business. Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in:D
Glad you had a good day Josephus. Sucks being sidelined for so long. Hoping elbow is ready by spring |

Nice report Joe,
I had a friend who was on the K to, he said the same thing. They do run a good operation. It's nice not to have to run around for bait as well. Skip is the man, fished with him some on Bobby's boat. Don't know him personally but he can sling em. I'm just waiting for my set. Brian |
Re: Norma K report today
NK might be the only game in town right now with the OE in dry dock.
