Fluorocarbon opinions

I'm putting this post here since the Bait & Tackle board seems to be all salt guys.

Going to try spooling up with fluorocarbon line instead of just a fluoro leader like I have previously for finesse fishing a spinning set-up. Curious what is everyones favorite brand/s and why?

A lot of fluorocarbon lines have more memory than mono or braid and I've had some issues with it falling off the spool. I'm sure there are fluoro lines that don't have this issue, but if I am fishing with anything under 8-pound test, I use P-Line Fluoroclear. It's fluoro-coated mono so it has the castability of mono but the near-zero visibility and abrasion resistance of fluorocarbon. It's good stuff. I've used the 4-pound for trout fishing with good results.

I've also been using 20lb p line for ice fishing leader material. My go to line is usually yozuri hybrid soft copolymer. However I've been pretty happy with the p line and its not too expensive like other fluoro lines are.

Are you talking spinning or bait casting? I've had bad experiences with all floro on spinning reels and wouldn't recommend it. Lots of tangles. For my baitcasting reels I've used Berkley Vanish, P-Line and Bass Pro XPS. I like P-Line the best.

I'm going the other way now however. Moving to braid with floro leaders.

The memory problem is what I'm afraid of, especially since I will be using either 6 or 8lb line. The P-Line Fluoroclear is a good thought... I'll have to check that out. Don't know if its true but I heard that it is a good bit thicker than comparable mono or pure fluoro (I'm guessing because of the coating).

I hear Seaguar INVIZX is pretty good. I also read that some guys swear by using line conditioner such as Reel magic or KVD line conditioner with it. Anyone have any experience with these?

berkley vanish fluorocarbon (black and blue box) is my go-to line. works well on spinning gear in the 4#, 6# and 10# i use. comes off the spool fine. cheap. i had the above mentioned problem with line memory using a different brand of fluoro (in the grey box, i forget what brand), but never with the vanish. my 2c.

I dont think you need it below 12 lb. test. And like I tell the tuna guys, we caught fish way before any of this stuff was ever invented.

I use berkley floro gold in ten lb test for most of my application for bass fishing never had any prob but get expensive when I line 15 poles so use a cheap backing and use 100 feet of the floro but the stuff is good I use mono for any top water fishing and trolling
