Passaic River from Fairlawn to Dundee ??

Hi all, New here,,

I am a salt water guy haven't fished freshwater for 20 years but now live within a minute of the Passaic in this area. Is the small park in Elmwood Park really fishable ? Also access to the river from there to down towards the damn? I am looking to fish for carp, catfish, bass, pike or whatever is fishable. Baits and or plugs, jigs recommended in this area for the above species?

Thanks Tony

Look for the posts by msgdan. Gives a whole meaning on local water. He slams the pike and pickeral pretty good when he is not chasing stripers down the shore.

Thanks Dave!!

I really haven't spent that many hours in the areas mentioned, but when I did, I have landed a bunch of pike, a good amount of LMB and even one small tiger muskie (about 4 years ago). Of course, the slow moving water around the bridges has had the best results for pike, and either a white or a chartruse 1/2 oz. spinner bait has been the lure of choice for me.

I have never fished for carp in that area, but there are some huge fish in that area.

Good luck and tight lines!!

Thanks Dan, I am shore bound, but for Catfish and Carp I guess I am OK, Ill explore from EW Park to the Dam all within a few minutes of me. Cast it out there and see thats the only way Ill know for sure.
