Monster Pike, Big Stripers, Walleye, and Hybrids (5/30-6/2)

Saturday 5/30/20:

Hopped around chasing some pike. Ended up with a handful of fish, including a true NJ river monster.

Sunday 5/31/20:

Headed out with my buddy in the salt for a few hours in the morning. Ended up picking some monster stripers, which were all released.

Tuesday 6/2/20:

Joined Tom and Kevin on the big pond for after dark action. Ended up being a slow night, but I got lucky and picked some walleye and hybrids. Thanks again guys!

Congratulations on your success. The fact that you caught such a variety of gamesters and were able to find the time to do it is, alone, an accomplishment. Add to that, the size and quality of the fish is truly commendable, but we've come to expect all that from you.

That pike is a trophy in any part of the country or Canada. Have you considered getting an official weight on any of them? That first one sure looks like it's proportions are good enough for record consideration.

A big thanks should go out to NJDFW for their pike stocking program.

Justin you cease to amaze us all. Unreal pics, especially that goliath pike. 20 years ago I would NEVER have thought a trophy northern pike fishery would be not only possible but flourish in the Passaic. Kudos to NJF&G creating that fishery and the vision someone had for it to be possible. Nice to see a river once devoid of life come back to the point it can sustain life. Still wouldn't eat anything from it's waters but nice knowing trophies like the one pictured exist in that system.

As usual, great job my friend and thanks for sharing with the board. Fresh, salt, domestic , abroad.....you really should broaden your horizons :D!

And fwiw, don't believe for a second it was luck the night you, Kevin and I were out. I know when we weren't looking you sprayed fish repellent on our lures!

How close is that pike to 30 pounds? The state record is just over thirty and one half pounds.

Tom Justin is a fishing mojo vampire. Can’t tell you the number of times he was the only one to catch out on our trips. Chris and I have finally figured out how to negate his charm. Last time we spun it on him and he pulled the hooks on 3 fish! I’ll sell you the secrets.

Nice gator JD Trout!
