Got the call this morning "Your Boat is screwed" storm flattened SEa Venture MArina, my boat floated off trailer and wound up on a property down the road. Pretty much all the Marina's in Highlands are screwed.
Time to pickup and rebuild. One and all stay safe! God Bless |

Tom,
My thoughts are with you. How is Dennis? No tog for awhile for me. |
Re: Storm Thread
I was able to make it down to Wagners marina in Leonardo our boat was found on a front porch of a house. I saw one post they had their boat in black foot marina. I went there it appears to be unaffected by the storm. I also made it to Atlantic highlands marina. Almost all boat that were furthest from the water up against the back fence seem to be ok. Pretty much all other boats litter the area like match stick

Re: Storm Thread
Does anyone know if Sandy Hook is still a peninsula? What type of damage was done out there
|
Re: Storm Thread
Drove through Leonardo and Atlantic Highlands today. I knew the storm was bad but seeing it first hand really was shocking. Contents of peoples homes at the curb, flooded out stores etc.
I really feel bad for all the people that were severely affected by this storm. At the same time I feel helpless to help them. There has to be some needs out there not being met and I think a lot of people would like to volunteer to help these families out. If any of you on the site need some help or know of a family that does lets try and get organized to help them. Just cant sit here knowing what people are going through. Got to do something. |
Re: Storm Thread
Bob and Adam, I am truly sorry for your loss and or troubles. I hope things return to normal soon. Gerry? The American Red Cross can use the help. Or if you listen or call to NJ 101.5 FM on your radio. A lot of folks are calling in to give help. The main thing is to help the American Red Cross and The Salivation Army.
Gerry? I think RFA and SSFFF.NET are set up for Pay Pal and such. What if they do a relief fund type of thing? If it works out, tell me. I will write to my friend in Delaware who has a huge email list and ask him to help. Plus I will write to everyone I know. Maybe RFA and SSFFF.NET can get the money raised to the Red Cross or something. Maybe if your marina is ok, we can do a clothing drive ? A canned food drive? One woman who called into NJ 101.5 said she had warm clothing and was in Union Beach and I think the radio station put her on the right track to help. Lets do this!!!! |

The big man was indeed smiling on me. Boat floated off trailer at Marina and was deposited in a Condo driveway down the block. Were able to recover boat and put her on the trailer, now back at marina.
Suffered damage, but it can be repaired. Kudo's to Skip at Sea Venture for the recovery. I was lucky, most were not. I can now spend my efforts helping others out. Hope everyone is well, stay strong and God Bless! |
