With all the cop hating going on this should not be on here. Mr. Bob FYI Fish and game wardens have the same authority as a State Trooper. Tell them they can't board your boat and see .

If you guys enjoy that sort of thing, fine, but yes, in my humble opinion its intrusion, at times bordering on harassment, and the fact that so many intelligent, articulate sportsmen welcome it boggles my mind.. Do you enjoy getting pulled over by the cops for no reason as well?...

Indeed why is all the activity against boat owners when we all know full well that the urban area shore anglers regularly fish for short stripers and anything else that comes along.

However, if you voice this sort of opinion, valid or not, you will be labeled a hater, racist etc..

I get stopped and checked regularly here in NY state as well.. Mostly land based DEC officers doing license checks. Never had them look through my catch, but did hook a Walleye under the chin with a DEC officer looking over my shoulder one time.. He instantly said it wasn't hooked in the mouth and said it needed to be released... I was NOT going argue! Back into the river she went.

They tend to leave boat owners alone up here... I think one time in 30 years I was stopped for a safety /equipment on Cayuga Lake.
The problem is this- you guys live in a concentration of population thats among the highest in the nation. They will continue to seek the guilty among the masses of the innocent... I just grow weary of it at my age, and have a problem understanding the placid acceptance among most people... bob

I understand that, and I am never disrespectful, I am polite to a fault, and am certainly not that stupid to be nasty to a cop/trooper/conservation officer regardless of how poorly I am treated by one.

Its only my opinion, but at least some of the "cop hating" as you call it is caused by the poor behavior of the officers themselves..

Lots of great cops out there, but I have a met a LOT of nasty truly miserable officers in my life as well. They need to "police their own" a bit better, and public opinion might change.. I hope that is the case..
However, we are going off topic here a bit..

btw, the many conservation officers I have run into over the years, have always been really nice guys, never a chip on any shoulder.. Always polite and respectful, often friendly, smiling, and talkative..
Cops/troopers??-Not so much... bob
