Mmhmm, most fish that you drop while jigging are just smaller more aggressive fish that are nipping on the tails of the Gulp. I think they're just curious more then anything at what they're seeing and not exactly hungry. I've seen 10 inch fluke inhale 6 inch mullets, so it's not like they can't fit just about any gulp in their mouth.

Not in the 0.7 seconds it takes me to swing!

And besides, if you watch the underwater footage from various youtube videos...the 1-3 lbers attack the tail and work their way up. The big girls take it in in one gulp (ha!). All my +7 lb fish hit on the drop and stop the jig dead, never any tappity tap from the big ones.

True.
I tend to think 99% of the fish I miss jigging are small. Big fish don't nip. Once or twice a season I know I lost a big one; those stay with me...and haunt me still. :)

Same thoughts exactly, get dialed in you can almost feel the size and when you roll a monster, a deep, took the whole thing take, feed him a little, feel for him and its like bottom, put the boots to him,,,, and loose it,,, so sad..... :(
