Also you are able to position yourself to make good drifts through likely fish holding runs and pools. Sometimes its not how you fish, its where you stand;) Waders keep you warmer and dry, are easy to clean after slogging through muddy, well beaten paths along the river. On the flip side watching fly fishermen standing in the holes casting to shore is a bit annoying as they need lots of room.:D |

Re: Will you fish opening day ?
I'll hopefully be fishing on opening day.... but on another body of water where it's not opening day that day.
I went for the first time last year and took my then-4 year old son on the North Branch and it was just too much. Maybe I'll take a day off during the week and get out there on a weekday, the Thursday after the Weds stocking sounds good. |
Re: Will you fish opening day ?
I'm thinking Lake Aeroflex and not deal with da crowd. I only fish the brooks
on weekdays and never on a stocking day. |
Re: Will you fish opening day ?
If it's not raining or too cold, my kids will be at Verona Park Lake--some trying to catch their first trout.

Re: Will you fish opening day ?
Fishing opening day is like going to a bar on St. Patty's day, it's crowded and etiquette is low. CATCH PHOTO RELEASE!!! keep one or two if you have a dinner planned but think about maybe fishing twice rather than filling a bucket of dogfood fed trout!!! Try eating perch and crappie the meat is 10,000 times better and they are naturally plentifull!!! bring a camera take a nice streamside pic, release the fish & show the world your catch!!!....in a few weeks you wont have an empty brook, you'll have another great day on the water!!!
