Re: Njf Ice Fishing Meet-n-greet
Lets all meet at the island on Lake Muscanetcong. Lots of parking. Plenty of fish. I always catch something there.
Don't forget to buy large butterworms from my minister friend Elliot at www.Elliotsbutterworms.com You can also call with the number provided on the web-site. I usually order 300-500. They keep in the refrigerator in the upper butter compartment for months in the shipping box. I use a plastic chewing tobacco can tucked in my pocket when I'm fishing. I don't bring all of them with me. Just enough for the day. They last a long time and I usually catch three fish before I add another one. They don't fall apart like mousies. They don't dry up and turn black like mealworms. They have an attractive smell that you can smell once the hook penetrates their bodies. I believe this is the reason they attract fish more than any other jig bait. Check out the picture Elliot posted of me on his web-site holding some butterworm caught N.J. trout. Now you know what I look like so you can find me on the lakes!LMAO Lard Almighty carries a picture of me everytime he hits the water. He still can't find me. I take that back. He found me at JJ Bitings at the Christmas party the other evening and promises to try ice fishing with me this year. We'll see. |

Re: Njf Ice Fishing Meet-n-greet
Took a ride up to monksville today to have my morning coffee. Sorry to say the only ice i saw was in the parking lot puddles. On a good note, it does not take much to freeze monksville.
just to let you guys know, there is a new B&T shop very close to monksville, i stopped in and talked to the new owner. he will be carrying live bait and you can order LARGE shinners in advance. If anyone wants the number let me know. Franks is also available for bait and tackle. |
Re: Njf Ice Fishing Meet-n-greet
Shrimpman, thanx for posting on the Sweetwater side. I'm definitely interested in the new B&T shop. Shoot me a PM about the new shop. Id really appreciate it. Thanx man!!!

Skunk, I am very amped up for this Ice season. Being as there was no good ice last year and this fall I didn't get out much due to family issues and work. I mean I have a friggin boat and a yak that Ive only taken out 1 time a piece in the last 2 months. My brain is fried and I cant wait to get on the water any way I possibly can. I am kind of a salesman, self employed, general contractor in this great state. I gotta wheel and deal to keep busy. Anyway, come on out for a visit if you have time buddy. TIGHT LINES!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Njf Ice Fishing Meet-n-greet
eddie what side of monksville r we talkin about? ie N, W, S, E? whats the basic depths around the area and whats the bait of choice? prob gonna come never been to monksville.......i am psyched theres ice on cranberry and the shallow pond by my house is froze over, temps droppin like bricks the next week.......
|
Re: Njf Ice Fishing Meet-n-greet
Jimmy, bring big baits if you want to catch the Musky. Chubbs, 10 inch Suckers, Golden Shiners or Jumbo Shiners from Franks tackle. Large Shiners will catch the Pickeral and whatever else might be in the shallows. Just take Greenwood Lake Turnpike north and make a right onto Beech rd. Parking lot is on the left, cant miss it. Coming over the little hill the right turn comes up pretty quick. See ya out there buddy.
