Remember if your out front and following your GPS you have to go around the hook not across it. Don't laugh it happens. Unless you have radar be ware of fog.

100% agree with previous posts, invest into a GOOD GPS unit. When I fish unknown waters, I make a track and record it going out and get into open water, then stop the breadcrump trail with a GPS mark of some kind. That way when I head back in and its dark I go directly to that GPS mark using known good open water and start back in from there, u will never hit land/unknowns this way unless someone parks a barge in ur way while you were out. Spotlights are fine to use in short bursts pointed at the water, unless theres other boats around of course.

It sure does
And that being said the shape of the beaches on sandy hook have changed since sandy so stay in the channels on the red side and ease your way across towards the beaches !!!!!!

Bingo!! This usually happens late November into December. Last year around that time it was game on but in the ocean, not the bay and for us it was mostly on Savage lures during the daylight hours

I have a new name for Gerry and a new phrase to add to the site. Tackle burner

Thank you for all of the replies and information. I have a small boat so I will be staying local within the bay at night and Friday will be my first test run at night! Thank you again
