Sucks that he wont get the record, but he will know he IS the record holder!! Just for fun, I'd rent a billboard and have the picture posted up for a while, lol.....:D

This, to me, sounds ethical and legal.

If the rules for Jersey are the same as what's being enforced in this case, I think many of us here would be considered criminals and poachers.

correct. the law works the same here in NJ. if a DFW CO sees you with a full limit and you hand an extra trout to your buddy, you are both getting tickets.

If the rules didn't matter, I'd just head on down to RVR and do a purse seine until I nabbed the state record breaking laker they found in there during the fish surveys. I mean... it's a fish of a lifetime, so an exception would be ok, right?!? just this once?!?

Valid point. Purse seining at round valley and catching a world record through ice have a lot in common.

Right or wrong I would have done the same thing in his situation! Seems reasonable to me as long as we were both with in our legal limit of one per person. I am not normally a law breaker but some things are just so FXXXing Ridiculous! We as a WHOLE need to use common sense a bit more!!!!
