To make a bucket easier to retrieve (5 gallons of water weighs 40lbs) Drill a whole in the bottom of the bucket and insert a heavy eye bolt through it with the eye on the outside. Use a large washer and nut on each side of the bolt to secure it place...the washers will give your more support on the thinner bucket bottom and prevent it from breaking through the hole. Tie one end of a 12ft rope to the handle of the bucket and the other to the eye. When retrieving pull the bucket in by the end tied to the eye bolt...this flips and empties the bucket and makes it much easier to pull in....especially in a stronger wind. Basically this make it work just like a drift sock.....and Home Depot 5 gallon buckets are only 3 bucks each.

Good report from a beautiful area. Can't beat Smallies on Sencos for steady action.

The 1000 Islands area is one of the most scenic place I've ever been to. I would love to have a small cabin on one of those islands. All I need is a lot more $$$$.

For my taste one of the most scenic places in the US and also helps that it's practically polluted with Smallies.

By far my most favorite fishery. If the fishing isn't cooperating there's always the scenery. I also enjoy the antique boat show and antique boat museum in Clayton, by Alexandria Bay. My father's favorite fishery is right up there too, Black lake. He goes in early June and kills it every year for about the last decade.
