Fished the Miss Montauk on Saturday. Boat was railed by 5 AM. Big heave due to the storm and a bunch of complete nit-wits that couldn't get with the program kept the numbers down. About an hour in the guy next to me gets slammed and thinks he's hung on the bottom. I kept telling him it's a fish quit horsing it and reel. He was hung up with lines from the other side and is HORSING this fish up. Pretty much did everything to try and lose the fish. Finally clears the bottom of the boat and it's a real real big fish. Sharon very calmly waited for her moment and dipped the net under the fish and smooth as silk lifted her in the boat. 32 inches 13.32 pounds. Guy didn't think it was all that big a deal. My buddy David and I caught some jumbo Sea Bass and a few keeper fluke but nothing like that. There was one other ten pounder caught on this trip. Great weekend on the water can't wait to go back.
Big shout out to the folks at Jigging world. We were stuck in traffic and called to let them know we were going to be there ten minutes before they were closing. No problem. Picked up jigs and a new pair of boots and boy that place is like a candy store for fishing. Thanks again!

Nice boat. One suggestion: on my trip with them, when the current really picked up, I felt like the captain or the mates should have somehow really urged the guys with not enough weight to put on the right amount to stay straight up and down. Guys from bow to stern tangling every line. Doesn't need to be that way. Captain super nice. Call over loudspeaker hopefully solve?
Do other party boat captains or mates suggest this?

We demand it when the current is running hard.....many times you will read in my reports "Bring the Heavier Rods & Sinkers", that's not a joke.
Obviously the guys who don't change up, don't get it and are probably not your every day fishermen, they need to be taught.

I was teaching them at the end of my knife. I can retie faster than you could untangle. I don't speak Japanese so I don't know what was being said but some of them went to heavier weights and some folks didn't.

Steve I know you and some others have spoken highly about sailing with them. The family did a great job under trying conditions. I look forward to fishing with them again in the future.
