Hey All... was wondering if anyone has had any action or luck around sandy hook yet for striped bass?
Probably waking up friday and heading down... any advice or tips would be awesome. Ive never fished there before and am just wondering if i am too early for the striped bass over there...
Any other fish i could target this weekend around that are?
Thanks

Its early for good striper action during the day, but you never know...
I would be there at first light, and bring a spinning rod, and some AVA Jigs, Krocs, Hopkins, etc.. Anything shiny that will cast far.. You'll get blues for certain, but this time of year you might get an albacore, or even a weakfish .. Its early for the "fall run" fishing, but really you never know out there what might be passing through.. Probably still a lot of fluke there as well, which of course need to be released... As stated, get there EARLY... as early as possible. If by chance there are schoolie stripers or small weaks around, thats when they'll hit.. Once the sun gets high and the boats come out, they'll be gone. Bluefishing should be good for smaller blues most of the day, if nothing else...bob

Any suggestions on a possible better fishing spot around that area? I live in Bergen county and wanted to fish in ocean or bay but don't have a boat so need to go from shore... any suggestions from Bergen county down to belmar area would work... don't want to drive down to far
