A lot of you guys are porgy fishing now, so this might be of some interest. Definitely the most fun I've had with scup, and culls out the nicer ones too!

lol...next year: porgies on fly rod! Hopefully the early season fluking improves, couldn't recall a more disappointing May/June/July back bay fluke season. Thank god for giant porgies!

Really cool.. Only problem is LI sound has bigger scup, and in shallower water than we have in NJ... It would be tough trying crankbaits for scup in a screaming current at ambrose, or in 40-50 FOW off of Deal/Elberon... LI Sound scup fishing is a lot better than NJ, and is a lot more accessible to small boaters and shore fishermen.. I will say i didn't know they would whack plugs like that.. jigs yes, but never heard of lipless plugs being used.. Very cool!... bob

Thanks! Yeah I've never porgy fished in RB/SH, so I wouldn't know. They'll hit soft plastics, and while attempting to jig for fluke I caught a few in 30 - 35ft, 1/4oz jigheads and 5" paddletails:

Thank you! That is the goal...sometimes I feel like I talk my head off in the voiceovers, but I'm glad some people find it helpful.

I've said it for years: If porgies grew to be 20# everyone would fish for them. Pound for pound they have more balls than most of our "inshore" species!
