BEWARE Mac's B&T in Neptune. I tried to return a spool of leader that was faulty and, 1: He accused me of possibly stealing it because I didn't have a receipt 2: The price tag on it perfectly matched his other product, and he said, "Everybody's price tags look like that." 3. When I told him I'm a business owner and I stand behind every one of my products, he said " I don't stand behind any of my products." That's VERBATIM. 4. He said, "You just want $20, don't you?", even after I said I'd accept store credit. 5. He told me to take it up with the manufacturer. 6. He said, "When's the last time you bought bait from me?", then pretended to not remember the 10 minute conversation we had about circle hooks 2 weeks prior. All in all: DOUCHEBAG. F*** that place. I wound up throwing the spool at him and told him to keep it. I'll never even buy another sinker from that guy. POS of the highest order.
Haven't given them business in years because of the rotten attitudes and lack of smiles I experienced many times. Some humans aren't built to deal in the customer relations department. Any good businessman always makes it a priority that 'the customer is always right'. You get bees with sugar not vinegar. Then more bees follow. Can't 'bees' any simpler.

It was absurd on so many levels. I've been stopping in there for years and he pretended he's never seen me before. I'm 43 and have been fishing my entire life, and I've never met with such a vile attitude. I normally don't take to forums to post negative press, but this incident was so f***ed up I had to share it.

What was wrong with the leader

The material was not smooth and consistent. I tied one fluke leader with it and saw ripples in it. You could feel it by running your fingers along it. Diameter variation and inconsistencies. He claimed to not feel it or see it.

Haven't even thought about going back there in 20+ years for the same reason.

I would send the reel back to the manufacturer so they can improve their QC. Extruding the stuff included all sorts of controls for thickness and something went very wrong. They would be happy to get the feedback. Tell them you want five spools for your time and inconvenience. You will probably get it

I would have sent it back but I threw it on the guy's counter and told him to keep it after he kept insulting me and being a prick.

Bought dozens of reels from them back in 80s and early nineties and many rods and tackle because they always had a decent price. the skinny guy in there is actually the heavy son of the owner who wasn't exactly mister personality either.so I go in there a couple years back and buy a penn sargus andthey put The wrong penn reel which is more expensive reel
In the box.I figure this is gonna hurt the little guy and bring the 150 reel back to them and get the 70 dollar one that should be in the box.Next time in there I ask him how the father was doing he starts getting nasty and said the only reason you shopped here was because we had good prices.hello.i would fish with a piece of bamboo before I ever bought one more thing from him over and out lost a good customer
