Hi guys,

Thinking of heading down to one of the party boats at Atlantic Highlands tomorrow for an afternoon trip for Fluke.

The reports I'm reading here are few and none seem very promising on what the keeper ratios have been.

Live in Northern NJ, so between tolls, gas, food, boat trip, tip and time spent, is it worth it for me to make the hike down?

Have not been out yet this year and the last two years has not produced much.

Looking forward to your oponions and feedback as usual!!!

Are you looking to go fishing or go catching? If you are looking to go catching I would suggest going to a fish market. If you are looking to get out and enjoy the nice weather with a chance to catch a nice dinner then go to Atlantic Highlands and hop on one of the sponsor party boats. End of story.

No Fluke,

48 posts in 9 years? Maybe you should change your screen name to No Fishing? I also live up in northern NJ (Bergen Cty) and make the trip regularly down the shore. Exit 117 on the Pkwy is not far.

Despite the fact that the fluke bag limit and season have been cut this year, Capt. Ron on the Fisherman and Capt. George on the Angler, both site sponsors, will put you on the fish. Excellent crew on both boats too! Just look at their pictures on this site everyday.

Spend your gas, tolls and money BEFORE Sept. 5th to find out for yourself.

plenty of boats have been doing well on fluke DAILY.
If spending the money on gas and tolls enters into the mix, you should be fishing a 3/4 day boat, not an afternoon trip.
As said Ron and George have been doing very well, with big fish daily also.
Fluke bite is VERY good for those willing to work a jig a little harder.
The quality of this years fish is also a notch above normal.
seems as many 22/24 inch fish around as there are 18

I drive 2.5 hours one way. Get up at 3, on the road at 3:30. I come home and have fresh fish to eat for a week!

Just get on your A-Game before you come down.

It's what's between the ears that catches the fish.

It's been a fairly tough year for the party boats but it's picked up recently and is definitely worth a shot... The season closes the end of this month so it's now or next year...

As you know, every day is different as are the conditions.... The best way to increase your odds is to be prepared to fish bait or jigs and make adjustments based on what's working that day and the conditions of the moment or spot your fishing.

Best of luck!!

Worth the trip? Beats golfing, shopping, sitting in a saloon, watching the boob tube, doing household chores, mowing grass, sitting around a pool and a host of most other things! Don't forget your sunscreen.

They are definitely on the move the past couple weeks in the north - we just boxed a 7 lb at the Rattlesnake and had a boat limit last week inside
