I haven't posted a report for a few days, because we're catching exactly the same thing we've been catching, some black fish, some fluke, seabass porgies , so on and so forth. Today there was a swell, and not so pristine water, it wasn't as good. As I worked my way down the beach , I found cleaner and cleaner water . But I caught a seabass today and it was just one of many like it, but I feel I have to comment. It was a small seabass a throwback, Upon taking the hook out of it I noticed it had a mouthful of gulp beat. Now don't get me wrong I'm very fond of using gulp bait but I think people should be very careful when discarding it. It exudes pheromones , which make it very effective , because the fish want to eat it, it's not just a teaser as everyone well knows , but when it gets ragged people throw it over the side, it should not be discarded in this manner . Fish eat it , and I don't know that it's very good for them. More and more I catch fish , and they have got mouthful of it or they are venting it . I have taken used gulp bait cut it in small pieces , and tipped my bait with it , and it's very effective , you don't have to get rid of it it's costly . You should be careful about the throwing these things away, it's not good for the environment, the same goes with monofilament , and power pro , these should not be thrown in the garbage in a loose mess . I wrap it in a tight ball and , wrap it in tinfoil . I throw it in my barbecue for a few minutes just to solidify it , You really don't want it to melt it , it will ruin your barbecue , or just wrap it in a tight ball , and put it in tinfoil in a plastic bag , this is much less detrimental to the environment, and the birds , and animals dont'get tangled in it . These are just the things that animal-rights people love to see ,and we are the Target of of bad press. Only a thought

I agree. Sometimes we should weigh what we use with the environment and damage we can do to it. I use gulp but try not to use them unless it is the only thing they will bite on. Lets face it if the fish can steal your bait dont they deserve a meal. LOL

excellent point and very pertinent info. years ago i was surf fishing in cape may and caught and released a bunch of fish. i kept one fish that was gut hooked (a weakfish) and upon cleaning it out discovered a gulp bait in it's stomach. since then i've always wondered what effect this has on the health of fish that digest this stuff (if digestible) and also on the people that eat these fish :o. an interesting concept i suppose for biologists to explore...
