It is with heavy heart that I let everyone know that my dear friend, mentor, fishing buddy, and generally partner in crime, Jim Cosentino, AKA the River Rat has gone to where the seas are always calm and lines are always tight. I met Jimmy when I joined the South river Boat club over 16 years ago. The first two words he said to me as we were introduced and shook hands were..... "You Fish?" and we have been friends ever since. Well its time for me to say good bye to him but I will have memories of great times with him forever. Nights of hauling fish and days of the skunk, running up on the beach in the fog and winning tournaments, watching his brother-in-law lip a small blue as he saw us lipping small bass....lol....Jimmy was one of the best fishermen, father, husband and friend I knew and I am going to miss him dearly. He fought a very hard battle and just couldn't fight anymore. I got a call to come over last night and got to spend a little time with Jim and truly believe he could hear me. I told him that I loved him, and for him to save a spot for me at the rail until the day I see you again my friend. Jimmy was an OG here on NJfishing and would be one of the first people to help someone out, He touched a lot of lives and the world is a sadder place today without him in it.
Going to miss you buddy....

Jim was a great guy, was always smiling, and was an amazingly personable guy who was always happy when he was fishing.

Although I haven't seen him in years, he made a distinct impression on me.

Jimmy certainly will be missed. One of those guys who had a quiet yet humble confidence about him, great sense of humor, loved to have fun and truly enjoyed life. Never complained about anything and was the sort whos glass was half full, never half empty.

RIP my brother and looking forward to seeing you on the other side.

What an unbelievable turn out at Jimmy's viewing!! The people were wrapped around the inside of the funeral home like a long TSA line at the airport. By the time I left, there was a long line forming outside the place as well.

Very fitting for a guy of his character and a tribute to how many people he touched.

Rest easy Jimmy. You will remembered and missed by many.

I know this is a very tough loss for you since the two of you were so close. People like Jimmy don't come along often and leave a very large hole in their wake that's hard to fill. Celebrate the time you had with him and you know he, his memory and the example of how he lead his life will carry you through.

Hang tough John. Love you brother....
