After doing very little fishing the past few years, I've been trying to do a bit more this year.
Took one of the rentals out in Shark River inlet today. Fished the last couple hours of the outgoing, caught 10 with one keeper. When the tide died, I moved to a spot in back that the shop had recommended to me.
While I didn't have any keepers, it was literally drop and reel for an hour and half. I probably got 50 shorts in that time. I finally gave up when the snappers showed up and were destroying whatever I threw out there. I wish i had a small kastmaster with me. Would have loved to have used them for bait. Next time.
I caught fish on killies, spearing, gulp on a hook, gulp on a bucktail. It literally didn't matter what you used. They hit everything.
