Splashed the Mugger last week around 6:30 with my buddy Big Fonz to see what this mid-summer magic hour had in store for us. Headed to perchville to pass some time until the sun lowered. We were into the whities pretty good with a few yellows mixed in...I feel a bump, set the hook and this freight train runs under the Mugger behind me. My little 6' Avid is doubled over, i'm leaning over the side of the boat with the fish running behind me, i successfully swung the rod around the back of the boat, under the outboard, everything stayed tight and all I hoped was to just see what was on the jig. 2 or 3 more strong runs and we get my first ever musky penned in the net! Popped the hook, outta the net for a quick measurement (35") a few pics and right back into the lake it went. Not the way i envisioned my first musky but I'll take it. Had a State Tag in its dorsal. haha

Then a celebratory cold one on the way to wally world as the sun set. Once positioned I get an 18" teenager, then Big Fonz gets a nice 22", then I had a 25" inhale my jig. Ended the night with a 12"ish smallie. I love these dog day magic hour runs but these evening thunder storms have been keeping me on land way too much this year.
