Every time you post pictures of your trips, man does it bring back memories. Imagine catching fish like that from shore which was exactly the case back in the 60's and 70's until again our fisheries management and government destroyed it with excessive commercial netting and trade negotiations with Russia. Like every fishery these days, we are being deprived of another public resource we have the God given right to enjoy because it's being or was exploited by politicians for political gain, greed and money. Our fisheries resources are being horse traded for personal gain while we and future generations get screwed. Glad to see the ling and whiting fishery flourish in northern waters, tragic it has never rebounded in the NY Bight. Again for anyone who never experienced it, you can't begin to imagine how great it was year in year out.

How is September for whiting fishing up there?

How is September for whiting fishing up there?
Also, is there an inshore fishery for them during the winter/early spring, in shallow water up there, or is it all deep water fishing ?
fishark531
07-16-2017, 01:53 PM
Mohawk every year is different but we have had great Whiting fishing in September. The deeper water holds the bigger Whiting. The inshore Whiting is still 200 feet deep and that is where you will see the commercial guys
Can I post videos ?

Actually one of the biggest contributing factors to their demise was enacting the 200 mile limit, that excluded all foreign govt's from commercial fishing inside of our 200 mile limit boundaries . It did not have limits for our own commercial fleets , so guess what happened no whiting , ling ! Big factor in this fishery destruction !

I was thinking the same thing. Miss that.
Would love to be smoking those babies. Instead get them in a deli for $6 a throw. :(

Understand why they stopped advertising.. It all about distance.. Their operation IS a good one, very well respected, but it is a 300 mile drive each way for many NJ fishermen. Yes NJ doesn't have Whiting any more, but there are still Ling, and most guys chartering would simply set up a charter package with ling and sea bass, or tog, or flounder and cod, etc.. Its all a matter of time and money.. a lot closer and cheaper.. Most of us love Whiting, but very few would drive that distance, pay for a hotel, meals etc, plus the charter cost etc, when NJ already has good bottom fishing.. Certainly not a knock against the operation in question.. The guys that have been there loved it... bob

I totolly understand your position and many others. Like I said I dont post these reports looking for NJ Members. I just posted a new trip on my board this morning and it is almost Sold Out and will be within the hour. Most of my trips are back to back to make it worth it for guys to travel. The same reason with rare exception I wont travel to NJ I understand why guys wont travel up North. I have at least 30 guys who fish with me from NJ and have been fishing with me PRIOR to NJ Fishing.com
This is a GREAT site and I like posting reports
Capt. Debbie

It's smokey here
Posting your own charters and your customer pictures YOU ARE ADVERTISING.
And you post for your Jersey customers on a website paid for by others?
"....I have at least 30 guys who fish with me from NJ and have been fishing with me PRIOR to NJ Fishing.com.... " And these 30 customers said to post on this site, but DO NOT CONTACT them directly?
Deep Down is right! You are advertising at this site's sponsors' expense. You're cheating a site that Gerry spent years building and posting for more business that you will PM The details to
Do the right thing - support the site of you're using to send customers ( and every other member ) information.
I dont need to advertise here
ALL MY TRIPS ARE SOLD OUT 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE SO IF YOUR NOT SURE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT PLEASE KNOW THE FACTS

I was a sponsor here too. Did not get the traffic I would have liked and stopped.
But I don't post upcoming events or even past events. It's not just posting. It's what you're posting. Are you even in any of these pictures? If not that is truly messed up. It's a free ride and you know it is?
I respectfully disagree Captain Frank and if Gerry tells me NOT to post here I wont

I am not gonna get in a pissing match with you Captain. Not worth my time
Wishing you a great day
I wont post here anymore as it seems I have ruffled some feathers
I guess it would be ok if they were advertisers so perhaps I will talk them into advertising again and if they do you will really see dome serious pushing of that fleet

I prefer they do so I can post my trips that no one supports here (LOL) without all the nonsense

I fish with Marc a lot up North and other places. I go where the fish that I like to catch are. And for the record, his site/group does trips on NJFishing Sponsor boats that draw in guys from other areas who would normally not fish in Jersey. And any boats can post reports on his site as well if they'd like.
Realistically very, very few guys are going to spend the time and money to go up North for Whiting and Ling. But it is great to revive the nostalgia, especially for the older guys who remember the good old days. I am sure many can't even get out fishing anywhere anymore and looking at these pictures lets them forget the aches, pains and problems they may be having.
p.s, Marc is in a lot of the pictures. He is the weird looking one with the big nose.

Fishark..idont no you from a whole in a wall but I don't see anything wrong with what you did here..some people are saying your advertising but I can't stand the people who falsely advertise their "Jumbo" catch to make you click on there page/ link...if anything that would be false advertising which imho is far worse... anyway great catches your putting together.

When you do these trips do you bring your own rod and reel or use the boats? I know you are fishing deep water. I am planning to go up there this summer and not sure if I should bring my own gear or use there's.
