So we know what the rules are in NJ.. 3 Fluke 19"....2 Sea Bass 12.5 and 50 Porgies and whatever else we are allowed to keep including Ling..Bluefish @15 and now some people are eating Sea Robins..etc. So gather some intel...get a game plan together and try to target catching some allowed species and put a bag of fillets together. That's my plan. I want to go home with fish to eat! Of coarse you need a boat or are really good at fishing from shore. It can be done ! Tight lines!

Porgies are still 50 and Seabass is 2 not 3. As previously stated Your fluke was wrong also. Your 'game Plan" should be to learn the regs. Then set out on the water in Your boat.

The rivers are full of Oyster Toads.. Ugly as hell, but good meat...
Probably load up on eels if you fish at night, any bait at all will do...
Sea Robins are pretty good as well.. I dunno, I think its more than meat..
its the hunt, and then enjoying the fish you want to eat, not so much the ones you are forced to eat..
Its kind of like hunting.. Chicken , beef and pork are better eating than deer are to most people, and cheaper when all is said and done, as well as much easier to obtain.. However deer hunters for the most part want to eat the deer they kill.
As you know, if it was just about the meat , Shrimp, Scallops, even Crabs and Lobster are cheaper and easier to obtain for many people than a couple pounds of fluke fillet are these days.. Its about the hunt, the sport, the challenge if you will, and then reaping the rewards with a good meal or two...
Your point is well taken, I know where you are coming from,, just adding my $.02

It's always about the hunt for me. I am a fisherman above all. I just wanted to share my thoughts about the limits and what we can do to bring home some fish for dinner. If I come home with 2 or 3 meals I am more than happy. Tight Lines!

I'm still trying to understand the point of this thread, I read this several times.... are you asking to go on someone's boat? Asking to go fishing with someone? What are you asking or saying? I don't get it

meh, had it a million times, not impressed.. Its ok at times, IF you get one thats not skunky, pissy, and nasty...Backstraps are good of course, but I have no desire to kill an animal for a couple pounds of tender meat... The deer hasn't lived that has meat as nice as a plain old pork roast .
Too many skunky deer out there.. Most hunters want a big broad shouldered, atypical massive rack buck, the nastiest, skunkiest, pissyest tasting deer you can eat.. No thanks.... bob

understood.. I was certainly not demeaning your post, I knew where you were coming from. I hope it didn't come off that way..
I agree.. Its about the hunt indeed, but it IS nice to have a successful hunt, and not come home empty handed... bob

New guy here that's been lurking for awhile but felt I had to register just to refute your opinion on venison with my own(because people shouldn't read that and get the absolute wrong idea). I truly couldn't believe what I was reading! I'm sorry you feel that way about venison but it's not the meat it's either you or your friends can't cook or can't field dress worth a damn! I've never tasted a piece of meat from any part of the deer that has the characteristics of what you stated.
Even the biggest mature bucks I've shot taste great. It says a lot about your taste though when you say you'd rather have the blandest cut of meat that you can buy, loaded with who knows what over a piece of free range, fully organic deliciousness that is venison. I wish I had video of the people I tricked into thinking they where eating beef telling me how great it is.
Back on topic, it's for me definitely more about the hunt with the added bonus of dinner!
