I have caught a fair amount of sea bass over the years on various baits but have never tried to jig for them.
What type jigs would be a good start?
Thanks

Williamson Gommie jigs sand color 1.7 oz, tip them with piece of clam.

Most of the sea bass I caught in the last week were spitting up sand eels. Ava 17 & 27 are the perfect match this week. I'll see how I do tomorrow.

Ava 17. Hammered diamond jig. Match the hatch

Ava's worked great, some with tubes, I used no tube smaller hammered jigs. I also had my own brand of teaser on a dropper loop up the leader @ 14-16 inches. Purple and whit combination teaser worked very well.....tip with clam and bite increases, weed through short fish.

Ava jigs with treble hooks work well. I have also caught countless seabass on small shimano flat sided butterfly jigs with double hooks on the top eye.
Work ava jigs traditionally like a yoyo. For flat sided butterfly jigs, hit the bottom and twitch your rod 1-2X on the bottom let it drop and repeat. Braid is a must IMO.
From my experience, jigging is usually only productive if the fish are thicker or more aggressive and the larger more fish are usually drawn to the jigs.
Hope that helps.
