Today first Fluke trip of the season. Headed out with dense fog from our slip at Atlantic Highlands Harbor, made a stop at the East end of the breakwater. Within a minute of dropping lines Tom comes up with a 18 1/2” keeper Fluke. I thought this is going to be a great day catching (NOT).Tom and I moved out to Officer’s Row, here water was dirty and no fish, not even a Sea Robin. Then joined the fleet near Sandy Hook Channel when the fog lifted to reveal many boats not catching. Back to the harbor before noon with the one keeper Fluke. Pete

Thanks for the report. Just curious, with that intel, how come you didn't give the river a try after hearing that? I ask because I have heard it's also been a really good bite in the river but haven't gotten out myself yet to substantiate it

The fog prevented any move that isn't on the GPS. Pete

The commercial hook and line fishermen have a limit of 14". Remember they fish all day every day till the quota is met. Pete

The commercial hook and line fishermen have a limit of 14". He told me that he was taking hundreds of 18" fish from the Navesink, then moved to other areas when the catch slowed. Remember they fish all day every day till the quota is met. Pete

thanks pete for responding really sucks im sorry but find a real job thats sick if this season is bad watch for a sale from me boat motor trailer and a lot fishing stuff.
