5/20/17: Central Jersey Stream Team cleanup in South Bound Brook. In total we removed 53 tires, 2 tons of metal including 2 washing machines and 3 refrigerators, 1 water heater, 3 bicycles and countless bags of recycling. Our next event will be held on Saturday June, 17th in Branchburg/Hillsborough!
There was also a clean up in Johnson Park in Piscataway and there is another clean up in Edison 5/21
Last week students cleaned the banks in Donaldson park.
So far for the 2017 year I think there has been no less than 15 clean ups on the banks of the Raritan river, and that number is being conservative.

I'm wondering the same thing. I know the Raritan roars with incredible force during the floods. but still. Washing machines, refrigerators????? Have the floods been so severe that they washed appliances out of houses? The smaller streams don't have the same kind of debris but they do have the same kind of problem with litter etc. As you drive around your local roads after a rainstorm, check all of the "stuff" that accumulates on top of the storm sewers and then think of where it eventually ends up but............washing machines? That is just insane!
Thanks for being a steward of the environment

It is an old Borough dump site on the banks of the Raritan river in South Bound Brook. Back then it was the norm to dump your junk in and around the Raritan river.

Thanks for all your hard work! You guys rule. Its crazy to see how far we've come, where it was once normal to dump in the river its becoming normal to take junk out of it. Great work!:D

Good work!. Next cleanup is June 17th. Know where?
Just crazy how many of those old tires still get pulled out of there. I guess back then people were lucky to get 1000 miles out of a set?
Thanks for doing what you guys do.
