Returned the next day and landed 35.5 lbs of carp from the same spot with the same bait. The 2017 NJ spring carp run is at its peak now as they are schooled for spawning.

I give them to people from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Central America who know how to make them taste good. Smoked carp is delicious.

Those carp are huge, well done!
In my opinion they taste good when fried, but only if they are young carp around 1lb in size (usually 16" or so.) Then they have a decent sweet white meat flavor. When they get old like that, they taste horrible haha.
Too bad most of NJ carp habitats are heavily polluted rivers anyway.

I'd love to find a spot to catch young carp like that.

Round Valley, Spruce Run and especially the Delaware River have carp. I wouldn't worry about eating those fish. But carp tolerate pollution really well and there are so many places where I wouldn't even think about eating one.

The amount of pollution, heavy metals and who knows what else is sitting on the bottom of Carnegie...not sure you're doing anyone a favor by giving them carp to eat.

Spruce run is probably one of the cleaner areas to get carp from. Monksville and surrounding lakes/reservoirs shouldn't be too bad either. Most will be larger older fish though.
Round valley is clean too but I wasn't aware of carp in there? Usually carp waters are muddier as they love to dig..
